Búðakirkja is a small black timber church on the edge of the Búðahraun lava field at Búðir, on the south coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The church dates from 1848, and with the open lava around it and Snæfellsjökull glacier on the horizon on a clear day, it is one of the most photographed churches in Iceland.
From the hotel the road crosses the peninsula to the south coast, about 40 minutes by car. Arnarstapi and Hellnar are a short drive further west, so the church fits easily into a day around the peninsula.
