Kirkjufell rises 463 m above the edge of Grundarfjörður, and its steep, almost symmetrical shape has made it one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland.
The classic view is from Kirkjufellsfoss, a short drive west of the hotel, where the waterfall sits in front of the mountain. It looks different in every season: green in summer, white in winter, and on clear dark nights it is a favourite place to photograph the northern lights.
